I was talking to Jared yesterday and he said he has made really good friends with a srgt mos t at his AIT training even though thay are not really supposed to be hanging out. This srgt will be a new platoon srgt after they gradute AIT in dec.

My husband will be doing transfer paperwork when he gets home. He is currently National Guard and fell in love with the Army so we will be transferring to active in Jan.

This srgt told him that he can specifically request to go to work under him. Like we can walk into the active recruiter and say I want to go to Fort ______ and work under srgt ____.  My husband is excited about that, but I'm a little weary. It just seems all to easy. Easy is not usually the Army way as far as I know! lol Can this really be done?

I'm sure he can try--but in my opinion, it does seem just a little too easy....

He can definitely request it, it's just a matter of whether or not he actually gets what he requested...

I agree with the ladies! They most likely handle it the same way like post requests....you can make a request wether or not they consider it is another story.

Just make sure that if they say YES, that it is possible to get it in writing on his contract! Otherwise-you could get screwed!

Michael kind of got screwed like that with his rank when he re-enlisted!

My husband and I don't trust anything until it happens. He's been screwed over SO many times it's not even funny. I guess the thing we have learned is to just try things, but never expect it to work. That way if it doesn't you aren't dissappointed, but if it does then it's even more exciting.  And you're right, nothing with the Army is easy lol

Yeah I know that you can request to a certain post. When I was in there were times that you could request a specific unit once you got to your post but only if you really knew the people at re-assignments and you was really nice to them would they work with you. I knew of a lot of people that got out of field units to get into garrison units.  But as long as he gets it in writing maybe it could work just know that the army tends to loose paperwork here and there and then guess what yo butt will still be in and god knows where...so just be ready for anything with the army from my experience.
