I am curious how many of you ladies are involved with your FRG? If so, have you or are you an officer?

What are your positive and negative thoughts on your history with the FRG?

I used to be a POC. I liked it while he was deployed cause I was always up on the information. I will never do it while he is home. It takes too much time and too much energy to focus on others while he is home for such short time periods.

his squadron just has the spouses group. We get together once a month and have a great time. We also do a lot with the booster club for our squad

Yeah, I actually just went to the first FRG last week. It didn't seem too bad. I guess last deployment there were some MAJOR issues between wives that translated over to the guys fighting which can NOT happen this time.

So, we'll see. I've met a couple nice girls so far- so even if the group sucks, at least I've expanded the support system.

I found out that there is one. I got recruited to be the Secretary by phone--but have yet to do anything with it yet. Waiting to hear back from the leader...

I never got much support from my FRG. The meeting times were always when I was working so I never got to go. I did get emails monthly. I got phone calls monthly for about 6 months. I went to 2 FRG functions and I was greeted my our FRSA and the Ltc's wife. THAT"S IT! I was never talked to by anyone else when I was at these functions.  When I did ask for help, I was sent to my husband's company for it. The only time I had met and saw my FRG leader was when my husband's 1st Sgt sent thank you flowers to his soldiers wives. She delivered it. After my husband got back from deployment, I again went to 2 Army functions, and again was only greeted by the same 2 people. Not to high in my book.

I went to 2 meetings and kinda had the same experience as Marie...but I guess I should have expected it since only half of the unit was deploying, Justin not being one of them.

I have been involved with a FRG as a board member and now as a active spouce there are positives and negatives to it  you get alot of information and meet a bunch of new people and establish friendships with some great people on the downside there is Drama and backstabbing  fake people and you almost sometimes feel like you are back in highschool cause it can become a popularity contest to many

I am a POC for myhusbands CRT. its nice, not too much drama, but didn't start out that way. there was a TON of drama when i started with this deployment. i was also a POC last deployment. It may sound selfish but the main reason i am involved with our FRG is so i can be up to date on events and for when they get ready to redeploy, and also I feel bad for those families that know nothing. Its nice to know whats going on, and if i can help keep people in the loop I will!
