Yes, I said GAINING. I'm probably one of the only wives who will complain about this but I've always had the hardest time GAINING weight. I've always been underweight all my life and now I'm ready to try to do something about it. I'm 18 and weigh only 90 lbs. I'd like to try to make it to 100 or about 110. Anyone have any tips or ideas for me? or maybe I should see a nutritionist?

Ugh! Most of us are going to want to hit you for this post!

Try drinking drinks like Ensure, Etc to boost up the calories you are taking in every day.

I could recommend some good chocolate for you. :p

I once read Audrey Hepburn gained some 20 lbs on her transatlantic trip over to the US eating boxes of chocolates. There was a picture of her when she got of the book somewhere. I'll have to see if I can find it...

Hmmm...I can't find it. I saw it in a book a long time ago, so maybe those images aren't available anymore, copyright or something. It was a picture of her disembarking the ship looking all plump and happy (as plump as Audrey Hepburn could be, lol.)

Anyway, I agree with Jessica. Ensure would be a good idea because it has added nutrients. I would look for calorie and nutrient dense foods. Nuts, avocados, peanut butter, olives, granola. Also, I would switch to full-fat versions of dairy products; yogurt, milk, cheese. That way you're still getting the calcium, but still calorie-dense.

But I still recommend chocolate. ;) Hey it's got antioxidants, right?

Oh and I meant to say "off the boat" here instead of "of the book". God, I gotta take a typing class or something.

I have the SAME problem!!!! Don't feel alone! lol.  I could eat fast food 6 times a day and not gain an ounce. The only time in my life I've been over 115 was when I was pregnant, and it all dropped right off within 3 weeks after having my son. (Girls trying to lose weight, go ahead and hate on me, I don't mind )

So, first go get checked for food allergies. Things like gluten, or dairy intolerances will keep you from gaining any weight at all. Your body just won't absorb anything else if it's rejecting one of those.

Second, instead of just trying to eat your way to a higher weight, try taking a protien supplement and working out. It's easier to gain weight in muscle than fat with a super fast metabolism. You'll still need to be eating a lot of nutrient rich high calorie foods with this since you'll be burning off more than normal. Maybe look into a personal trainer?

Going to see a nutritionalist wont hurt either. They will be able to give you a lot of info and ideas of what foods will work best for you and specifics about how many calories you should be eating a day to gain weight.

Whatever you do, you're going to have to stick to it for pretty much forever. That's my downfall.

I used to be the type that couldn't gain weight--and now I'm the type that can't seem to lose it! Why can't I just be stuck in the middle? lol

I WISH I could serious take a donation

People have always joked about that.. I'll give you some of mine.. if only it could really work that way, lol. The most I've ever weighed was 109 which was when I was 9 months pregnant, but having a baby did help. Before I weighed 85 now I weigh 90 so it gave me a couple pounds!

I'm using a BodyBugg to lose weight but it also has a feature that shows you how to gain weight.  It tells you your calorie expenditure throughout the day and you just have to make sure that you intake is more than that.  It takes into account your metabolism and all that. If you're serious about it, then its a good investment
