How many of you have had your Adenoids removed? I have always had severe sinus & breathing problems due to enlarged Adenoids. I really can barely breathe through my nose. I know that I should try to have the procedure done-but I am very nervous about it due to adults tend to have a lot more complications after the surgery than children. I'm wondering what other solutions might be possible, besides the surgery (such as Nasal steroids)?

I don't know if this will help, but have you ever tried a neti pot? I don't have enlarged adenoids, but I've always had problems with my sinuses, I seem to get a lot of sinus infections, mostly because I have really bad allergies I think. Ever since I started using the neti pot though, everything is so much clearer, and less infections. You can get one at Walmart for around $15.

Also, I was thinking it might be good because the saline you put in the pot is supposed to help with inflammation.

Yes-I have used one, and while I notice a difference--it really isn't anywhere near enough. I'm not even joking when I say that I can't breathe through my nose hardly at all. And this is a 24/7 problem...

I had the surgery as an adult and it was horrible! Not to mention my adenoids grew back so it wasn't worth it... I had to have them removed along with my tonsils to join the Air Force (since I got strep all the time) and within a year, they were back, and actually grew down my throat and caused breathing problems that way! How weird!!! Anyway, you should get a few opinions about what you can do! There's lots of things available nowadays, and if surgery is the best option for you, then do it! It's only temporary (the pain) and it might be good for you. Have you ever had a CT of your sinuses? Maybe an x-ray of your nose? Your problem could also be a septum issue.
