LOCATION: Fort Leonard Wood is located approximately 130 miles west of St. Louis, MO and approximately 80 miles east of Springfield, MO on I-44.
MISSION: In October of 1999, Fort Leonard Wood officially stood up as the Maneuver Support Center or MANSCEN. Since the decision to move the Military Police and Chemical Schools to Fort Leonard Wood, the installation has been growing and changing constantly. Fort Leonard Wood is situated in the heart of the Ozarks, and is an ideal place to work, train, and raise a family. The installation is comprised of 63,000 acres of land which is approximately 98 square miles adjacent to the Mark Twain National Forest. Fort Leonard Wood is an inter-service training center and proudly trains soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and international students.

DH hated fort leonard wood, personally i like small towns but since he was training there in the winter, i can understand him not liking it | |

Unfortunately we will not be moving anytime soon as it was planned.
That makes me a really sad panda since I couldn't find a single thing I like about FLW or even Missouri so far...maybe I am lucky to find some nice people in the area though to turn this into a somewhat positive experience here.
Sooooooo.....Fort Leonard Wood anyone??

You're only two hours from Silver Dollar City! That place was what my childhood was made of. If you haven't been you HAVE to go before you leave. At least once for the Christmas Celebration and then a few more times in the summer for the warm season attractions. :-)
