Elmendorf Air Force Base is adjacent to the north side of Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. Major Command: Pacific Air Forces (PACAF)
Mission: The 3rd Wing is Elmendorf's host unit. As the largest and principle unit within the 11th AF, the 3rd Wing is tasked with providing air defense and air superiority in Alaska, as well as supporting Pacific Air Forces during contingencies in the Pacific Command area of responsibility. It has three main functional groups: Operations, Logistics, and Support. The men and women assigned to the wing combine talents to constantly improve war fighting capabilities in Alaska.
