Military Dental Care - It's a Family Affair As members of the military community, overall good health is key to the quality of life and military readiness. Part of overall health includes good oral health. That is why the Department of Defense and TRICARE offer you and your family members different dental programs - to help you keep a healthy smile.
Active duty service members receive worldwide dental care as part of their overall TRICARE health care benefits and are not eligible for the TRICARE Dental Program.
Family members and survivors of all active duty service personnel and Selected Reserve and Individual Ready Reserve personnel and their families are eligible for the TRICARE Dental Program with its comprehensive, worldwide coverage.
Military retirees and their family members may enroll in the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program, a comprehensive dental insurance program.
The Key to Using the TRICARE Dental Programs Everything about your enrollment in and use of the different TRICARE dental programs depends on accurate information in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). Check that DEERS information on you and your family members is correct. Here are two ways to update information in DEERS: Call 1-800-538-9552 (M through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) (in California call 1-800-334-4162) or visit the DEERS site.
