Hubby is doing his in-processing at his AIT station. He's been told that since my son and I are not moving down there, his BAH will be cancelled from his pay. I really don't think this is right. If it were an actual duty station move that I were not going to, I could understand why they might do this. But he is required to live in the barracks for the first 20 weeks (there would only be a couple weeks after that, that he would be able to live with us), and we agree that there is no point in me quitting my job to move to a place that we may not get stationed at to begin with.

Any advice or previous experience with this issue?

No! You will still recieve BAH--but while he is in training the amount will be based off of your home address where you're living-not where he is going to school at. I just got done doing the same thing. They still have to do BAH--because he has to be able to provide adequate housing for his family!

Unfortuneately Finance IS who he'll have to talk to. Do you rent or own? He'll have to provide some sort of proof of address for where you are living. If you rent-he'll probably need a copy of your lease.

Also--basically you need to look at it as you should always receive BAH. Really the only time you would NOT receive it is if you are living in on-post housing!

we own...we never had any issues with housing with the air force (we lived both on and off base), so it is another part of the new world of the army to me. i can't imagine what makes these people think this is right, but he said that this is what they are telling all of the guys there during their in-processing.
