Does anyone take any anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medications? If so, did you have to try out more than one medication before you found what worked for you?

I personally am taking Paroxetine (generic Paxil) for anxiety. I started out at 20 mg in January. It wasn't doing well enough, so my doctor increased the dosage to 30 mg. I cannot believe how much this has helped me. I only wished I had given in and started on the medicine a long time ago instead of putting it off.

I've taken about 20 different anti-depressants since being diagnosed as clinically depressed when I was 14. Many of them make me nauseous or shakey, and a few made it impossible for me to sleep. I stopped taking them about 4 years ago (by choice), but recently started up again because my midwife is very concerned that I could end up with postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis due to my mental health history. She started me on Zoloft on a small dosage (I think it's like 10mg?) to ensure it doesn't have any negative effects on the baby or I.

When I was 13, I was admitted to the hospital for an eating disorder and depression and spent 8 years on Prozac. I was taking 60mg (I believe?).. but recently weened myself off of it.

I'm afraid I may need to start taking it again, especially when Steve deploys. I have horrible anxiety  (as you know, Jessica.. we're like the same person lol), but I'm just afraid of the costs.

I've been lucky with the costs since we have Tricare, of course! My generic Paxil is only $3 every 30 days! ..and my birth control, Yaz, is $9.

The cost was a lot of reason I hadn't talked to anyone or went on medication in the past as well.

i get my Yaz for free. I have to stop taking it though  because i have a heart condition. i'm looking into the mirena.

as for anxiety and depression. i've been on lots of different anti depressants. i finally landed on 20 mg prozac and i've been on that for several years. for anti anxiety i take 0.5mg of xanax. one doctor prescribed me klonopin when i first got up here and i had a panic attack over it because i didn't know what it would do to me. so i went back the next day and got it switched.

i've been off my med for a year though.

Personal Question, kinda

How do you go about getting anxiety medication? I have horrible anxiety, especially at night time, i sit there and think and think and cant sleep because of it.

Is it the TMC or just the regular doctors?

some require that a psychiatrist suggest/prescribe it. others don't care.
